Companies Act 2014

The Companies Act 2014 (The "Act") commenced in June 2015. The Act is the culmination of a number of years work undertaken by The Company Law Review Group to consolidate existing company law into one concise piece of legislation.

The aim is to simplify and reform the obligations of smaller companies by introducing a new model for private companies limited by shares.

In addition, the Act aims to make Company Law requirements easier for all to understand. Upon commencement, the Act revolutionised Irish Company Law and provided a modern state of the art Company Law code for Ireland.
