23 July 2020

On Thursday, 23rd July, the Government announced the July Jobs Stimulus, a €7.4 billion package of direct expenditure, tax measures and credit guarantees aimed at stimulating a jobs-led recovery and to help build economic confidence while continuing to manage the impact of COVID-19.

At the launch, An Taoiseach, Michéal Martin, commented that the stimulus package will be the next step in our national recovery and is designed to help businesses which haven’t reopened yet and those struggling to do so. The Taoiseach announced a number of initiatives, some of which are highlighted below, and also confirmed that a new Employment Wage Support Scheme will succeed the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme, and will run until April 2021.
