Our BDO global risk landscape 2020 report reveals that business are highly vulnerable to events that threaten their reputation – yet many could be more proactive in protecting their brand and building integrity.
During these unprecedented times, integrity is vital for businesses, with 99% of respondents agreeing on that point. The report highlights some interesting findings regarding who is responsible for transparency within an organisation, with one in three companies admitting to being “reactive” on reputation.
So what threats do businesses see to their reputation from technology and people? What factors do they think most important for building future integrity? To answer such questions, BDO surveyed 500 C-suite executives from leading companies across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Americas.
In this year’s survey, the priorities of 2020 are very different: the top three are economic slowdown, computer hacking and business interruption, showing the world is evolving faster than before, bringing new opportunities and challenges for businesses. You will see from the survey that these concerns are clearly linked to the Covid-19 outbreak, along with worries about business interruption.
The below outlines the top three concerns from 2017 - 2020
