Alex Bergman

Alex leads BDO’s third-party assurance practice in Ireland and brings over 14 years’ experience in attestation reports (SOC 1, SOC 2, ISAE) and controls assurance. Alex spent over 12 years in the United States where he worked in consultancy, business process improvement, regulatory compliance, and controls and risk advisory.

Alex is responsible for controls and third-party assurance engagements and is a specialist in SOC and ISAE reports and internal controls. Alex has worked with companies ranging from small startups to the largest technology and financial institutions in the world.

• Led attestation and assurance reports (SOC 1, SOC 2, ISAE 3402, ISAE 3000) for companies ranging from financial institutions, technology companies, data centres, corporate services providers, loan servicers, and transportation providers
• Provided controls assurance work under the EU’s Digital Markets Act for some of the largest technology companies in the world
• Experience leading benchmarking ISAE 3000s based on the IOSCO Principles for Price Reporting Agencies
• Led tailored, custom ISAE 3000s for ESG reporting companies based on underlying model validations methodologies
• Provided business consulting and process improvement services to large lending institutions
• Delivered Regulation AB Item 1122 compliance examinations under the SSAE audit standards for large loan servicers

Alex has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance and Management) from Drake University, is certified Lean Six Sigma, and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
