Allan Sweeney

Allan is a Director in BDO’s Corporate Advisory and Recovery department with circa 25 years' experience in the fields of restructuring, litigation and every facet of insolvency.

Allan previously worked at two leading restructuring and insolvency firms in Ireland prior to joining BDO in 2011.

SERVICES & SPECIALISM

He currently predominantly deals with construction and property related debt restructuring, formal insolvency and advisory cases. He has acted for both lenders and borrowers, including developers, in respect of asset work-outs and debt negotiations which included the completion of independent business reviews, feasibility studies and development appraisals. This has included liaising with design teams, local authorities and contractors. He has also acted as financial monitor for lenders on large scale developments.

Allan also obtains finance for developers for both site acquisition and the construction of residential and commercial developments. This has included both private and social housing schemes.

He has substantial litigation experience and in addition to overseeing numerous legal cases primarily within insolvency cases, he has been engaged by solicitors to conduct both jurisdictional and extra jurisdictional asset-tracing and corporate investigations in order to ascertain the economic viability of proposed litigation. This includes unpicking complex off-shore and unlimited company structures.    

Allan has been a member of the Irish Society of Insolvency Practitioners for over 10 years.
