David Prendergast

David joins BDO Ireland as Director of Cybersecurity and IT Audit, bringing over 30 years’ experience in cybersecurity and advisory roles across leading global professional services and specialist consulting firms.
 
David has worked as a CISO for DEPFA Bank and in senior cyber and risk roles at Ulster Bank and AIB. Earlier in his career, he worked for IBM in Ireland and the UK, as well as for Guinness/Diageo, and has held previous security and IT roles in manufacturing, healthcare, and local government.
 

Services & Specialism

David brings a wealth of knowledge, having developed security policy and assurance frameworks and delivered engaging and interactive cyber and privacy-related training and scenario exercises to global and local clients.
He has real-world experience of responding to cyber incidents, and has developed cyber incident response and business continuity strategies for clients and conducted security reviews and audits, from SMEs to multi-nationals and across many industries.
 
He has considerable experience delivering organisational change whilst maintaining a collaborative working relationship with stakeholders to champion security priorities and objectives
