Apart from specialising in Irish and international VAT and related supply chain issues, Ivor is also an expert in Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT), a withholding tax affecting payment related obligations in the Construction, Meat Processing and Forestry sector.

Having been instrumental in setting up the Firm’s VAT practice on joining The Firm in 1993, Ivor was Head of VAT prior to handing over the reins to his colleague Philip Nolan during 2021.

Prior to joining BDO, Ivor worked with the Irish Revenue Commissioners.


In his role with BDO Ireland, Ivor oversees Indirect Tax compliance and planning for both domestic and international clients and this includes acting as the co-ordination/liaison Partner in respect of various projects that involve VAT advisory/planning services of BDO offices globally.

International supply chains, cross border trading, real estate transactions and advising Irish and International clients regarding Irish Relevant contracts Tax implications are the focus of Ivor’s day to day engagements.

He is a member of both the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland and the Institute of Taxation in Ireland and has lectured on VAT issues both nationally and internationally.
