Marc Aboud

Marc is the Sustainability Reporting and Assurance Partner in BDO Ireland's Sustainability department. A strategic risk leader with over 15 years’ experience and a proven track record in leadership roles, Marc brings a deep commitment to risk, regulatory, control and sustainability-related engagements.

Marc has proven expertise in executive-level engagement within multinational and domestic organisations and has worked cross-functionally with stakeholders across multiple business lines.

Marc joined BDO in 2025 from another Big Four firm, with experience in the risk advisory, assurance, and consulting departments in Ireland, as well as a secondment at a US firm. He also served as Chief of Staff across the firm's Irish offices, working closely with the CEO and the firm's executive team on key strategic matters.

Marc has specific experience in:

• Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy and scenario analysis
• ESG materiality assessments
• ESG reporting and disclosure requirements
• ESG assurance and regulatory gap analysis
• Sustainable finance, e.g. green bonds.

He has supported clients in financial services, consumer, energy and resources and technology and media, from large PLCs to corporates with PE investment.

Marc draws on his significant control assurance services and internal audit expertise, including financial and non-financial reporting. His client support includes internal control remediation and testing, risk framework support and design, and IPO readiness. He has a specific focus on organisations/industries in highly regulated environments and emerging risk areas (e.g. ESG)

Marc is a fellow chartered accountant (FCA) and holds a certificate in Sustainability and Climate Change (SCR) from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).

He has lectured for the Institute of Bankers and Chartered Accountants Ireland and has contributed to multiple media outlets on topics related to risk, control, and sustainability.
