Robert Shilling

Robert is a Senior Manager in the Corporate Recovery department. He has over 11 years of experience in restructuring and advisory services, initially joining BDO as a trainee accountant in 2013. Robert completed his traineeship and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2018.

In addition to being a Chartered Accountant, Robert is also a qualified civil engineer.

Services & Specialism

Robert has extensive experience providing advisory and restructuring services to a wide range of clients across various sectors, including construction, hotel and leisure, food and beverage, residential and commercial property, credit unions, and banking. Since joining BDO in 2013, Robert has built up considerable experience across these sectors, including dealing with trading entities, asset management, and property management.

Robert has managed insolvency assignments, including Examinerships, SCARPs, Trading Receiverships, Asset Receiverships, Court Liquidations, Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations, and Members’ Voluntary Liquidations. He has worked with various financial institutions in both informal restructurings and formal appointments.

Robert has also been involved in advisory work including property acquisitions and disposals, Independent Expert Reports, financial monitoring, restructuring & refinancing assignments and company turnarounds.

Robert was a member of the Restructuring & Insolvency Ireland (RII) Younger Members’ Committee from 2020 to 2025 and chaired the committee from 2023 to 2025.  Robert was appointed to the RII Council in 2023 and still sits on the Council.
