BDO Ireland Launches Dedicated Aviation Advisory Unit to Strengthen Global Aviation Finance Offering

Dublin, 10 September 2026 – BDO Ireland has formally launched its dedicated Aviation Advisory unit to expand its service offerings across the global aviation finance and aircraft leasing sectors.

The new practice is led by Partner and Head of Aviation Advisory, Stan Barnes, alongside Donal Boylan and Gerry Power, who collectively bring more than 100 years of senior executive experience across aviation finance, aircraft leasing, asset management and aviation technology.

Ireland at the Heart of Global Aviation Finance

Ireland continues to occupy a unique position at the heart of the global aviation finance industry. The country is recognised as the world’s leading hub for aircraft leasing, with nine of the top 10 global aviation lessors maintaining a presence in Ireland and Irish-based lessors managing more than 50% of the world’s leased commercial aircraft fleet.

This concentration of international aviation expertise, capital and infrastructure has established Ireland as a critical centre for aircraft leasing, financing, asset management and related professional services.

The aviation finance landscape is evolving rapidly, however. Lessors, airlines, investors, financial institutions and other industry stakeholders are navigating a combination of changing regulatory requirements, shifting capital markets, technological transformation, increasing operational complexity and greater scrutiny around risk, asset performance and long-term value.

A Multidisciplinary Approach to Aviation Advisory

The team will support clients across a range of strategic, financial, operational and technology-related challenges, drawing on both specialist aviation expertise and the wider capabilities of BDO Ireland.

The practice will work with businesses on areas including complex asset and portfolio transactions, operational transformation, asset lifecycle management, risk and governance, technology transformation and evolving regulatory requirements.

By bringing together relevant expertise through one coordinated team, BDO aims to provide clients with a more integrated approach to complex aviation challenges, helping them manage risk, improve decision-making and protect long-term asset and enterprise value.

Ireland is the undisputed centre of global aviation finance, however, the sector is operating in an increasingly complex environment with organisations facing evolving regulatory requirements, financial pressures, technological disruption and heightened expectations around risk and governance.

Our team brings real-world aviation industry experience combined with the breadth of expertise within BDO Ireland, enabling us to provide clients with practical, commercially focused advice across a range of complex challenges.

We will support clients throughout the lifecycle of their assets and investments, providing the insight, expertise and practical solutions they need to protect value and achieve their long-term objectives.

Building a Global Aviation Advisory Practice from Ireland

While the new unit is rooted in Ireland’s established aviation finance hub, BDO Ireland will leverage its global network and multidisciplinary capabilities to support clients operating across key international aviation markets.

The launch represents a further investment in BDO Ireland’s commitment to the aviation sector and reflects the firm’s ambition to build a leading advisory platform capable of supporting clients through the increasingly complex financial, operational and strategic challenges facing the global aviation industry.
